Use of 2D Services for Introducing Accuracy in Mechanical Drawing

In manufacturing and construction industries, steel detailing is indispensable. However, the process needs to be accurate and full proof for generating desired results. In fact; accuracy in the process is important for every project irrespective of its size or dimension. The technology involves the creation of detailed drawings for engineers, designers, and all concerned and works as an important communication link among the major stakeholders in an enterprise.

Shop Drawings and Erection Drawings
Steel detailing involves two types of drawings namely; shop or detailed drawing and erection drawing. The first one provides minute details of individual steel pieces whereas the second one specifies the dimensions of each installation. Shop drawing only relates to fabrication and does not tell anything about erection or location. It is the erection drawing that takes care of this part and details the installation as well.

Accuracy in Erection Drawings
Erection drawings display dimensioned plans and at the same time specify the location of each of the steel components. They include specific information relating to the positions as well as installation requirements of each of the components and the details about all associated field works for installation. Basic necessity is that all these need accuracy in the process because a small mistake can cost dearly in terms of expenses and wastage of time.

For all these, the necessity is also creating an effective communication system among all the stakeholders and that is the point where the use of 2D services that have withstood the advent of 3D technologies in the construction and manufacturing industries.
